The School for the Great Turning has, from the very beginning, been powered by the momentum of a global community who believe earth-based education and healing should be open to ALL.
We’re dedicated to teaching and supporting Joanna Macy's Work That Reconnects, regenerative ecology, cultural revival, community music, somatic practice, for the thousands of courageous, caring, do-gooders around the world.
What We’re Planning Next:
This fall and into 2027-2028 we're expanding to offer more in-person gatherings, from writing and music-activism classes, deep ecology and community outreach events. Our fund needs to grow with them.
For five years, this community has raised roughly $25,000 annually, and that money has held our no-one-turned-away commitment together. It has covered nearly everyone who asked for support in our online programs.
For in-person gatherings, historically we’ve only been able to say yes to half of all scholarship requests. They cost more per person because they include food, land, travel, and the time of the people holding the space.
In-person also offers opportunities that people need most in times of promise and peril- real-life connection. We're raising more because the work in front of us requires it.

Joanna Macy spent her life making sure this work would outlive her. Most of the people who need it still haven't encountered it. Not because they wouldn’t get involved, but because we've never had the means to reach them.
Part of this campaign supports the ongoing work of carrying these teachings to a generation inheriting a world that asks so much of them. The scholarships only matter if the person who needs it knows we exist.
